Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille on Penalties to Secure French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now won the prestigious trophy on fourteen different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a straightforward triumph in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the French Cup winners after the French winger opened the net early on.

However, Marseille struck two times late to seize a shock lead. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial leveler in the final moments to force the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving crucial kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing shootout victory.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this trophy for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
